Received April 30, 2011

Only received 1 card today but I am SUPER EXCITED to receive it!!  It is from the 2011 Postcrossing Taiwan Meetup.  A meetup is where Postcrossers meet each other and trade cards, chat, and send cards around the world!  There are at least 20 signatures on my card and I love it!  It's so very special.  I never received a card from a meetup before.  :o)
The Hualien and Taitung areas of eastern Taiwan.  (TW-290390)  Such a beautiful card and even a bear stamp!  Yay!

Cards Received April 28-29, 2011

Okay, I was worried.  I hadn't received cards in a few days and was going into slight postcard withdrawal.  The day before last I mailed out 21 cards and will have 5 to go in the mail tomorrow.

I received this one (UA-96183) actually yesterday, April 28th and I LOVE it!  The sender said she had seen another in my collection from that set and so sent it along.  I didn't remember until I looked it up.  Click HERE to see it.  What a great set of cards!  They are very glossy and colorful with the illustrations of old Ukraine.

All the rest of the following cards I received today, April 29th!  I felt like I hit the jackpot when I opened the mailbox!  I had 4 cards and a Netflix movie in there - no ads, no bills, no papers, no flyers - just goodies!!  Yay.  Good mail day.  :o)

(LT-127556)  So pretty from Lithuania...

Cookie Monster say "ME WANT COOOOKIE!!"  I'm presently on a diet.  How many Weight Watchers points is this postcard?  Zero?  Great!  (LT-125032) From Lithuania...

(TW-288717)  Really cute one from Taiwan...

Sweet little lamb from Austria (AT-76584)... my little girls will be stealing this card shortly!  Is that a Buenos Aires, Argentina stamp from Austria?  Interesting!  Botanical gardens around the world maybe?  Great stamp!

Have a lovely weekend!

Received Monday, April 25, 2011

Beautiful multiview card of Lake Synevyz in the Carpathian Mountains.  We must put this on our wishlist of places to visit when we hit the lottery and go on our trip around the world!  It's magnificent!  (UA-96338)

Equally beautiful is Santa Caterina Del Sasso on LagoMaggiore - Wow!  It is so hard to imagine that anyone could take that lovely view for granted - I can only dream.  (IT-131903)  This card and stamps are so perfectly clean and pretty I can't believe it was mailed without an envelope!

La Danaide by Auguste Rodin (1889-1890) can be seen in the Musee Rodin in Paris, France.  Simply beautiful.  (PL-202236)

The Tower Bridge of London, England.  Pretty cool.  (GB-219357)  Second day in a row I received the awesome King Lear stamp!  It must be new?  I love it!  I wonder if there are others in a series.

Cards Received On Saturday, April 23, 2011

Easter Sunday was pleasant even though I had to work.  I worked all weekend, which is why I'm so late in posting the lovely cards I've received Saturday.  I got some really beautiful ones too!

This one is so gorgeous!  I love it!  It's St. Isaac's Cathedral in Saint Petersburg, Russia
(RU-386459)

(RU-393104)  The Last Supper - how interesting that I received this card which is of a painting in the above card's museum (St. Isaac's Cathedral)!  So coincidental and cool.  :o)  This painting is breathtaking.  I love art.  Don't you love my creative way to keep the writing on the back of the card private?  It's all high-tech and fancy with that piece of paper.  Lol!

Great Bear card from Finland (FI-1069421)

NL-623839 "Farmer's Wedding" by Pieter Breughel (1525-1569)  Very nice!  Cool stamps too!

"Gentleman Lane" in LuKang, Taiwan... Because the lane is too narrow for 2 persons to pass, the boys need to show their politeness and respect by giving the way to the girls.  :o)  I love it!!  (Private Swap)

Here's a card for my HoneyBears, my 2 youngest daughters who I started a Postcrossing account for.  They love getting cards too and especially love all the church steeples in this panoramic view of Riga, Latvia!  Pictured are the National Opera, Blackheads House, and the Dome Cathedral.
(LV-29160)

John Lennon is my favorite Beatle!!  I love the Beatles more than any other band ever.  They were just amazing, and Lennon was truly a gift to the world of music and someone forever loved and missed.
(Private Swap)

Cute puppy from Ontario, Canada sent from my dearest penpal and close friend.  Don't you want to cuddle him?

Ciao Baby,

On returning from the store from buying my daughters' Easter basket goodies I see I've received some Happy Easter greetings of my own in the mailbox!  How wonderful!

Fabulous Easter card from Belarus (BY-164870) displaying the beautiful Orthodox tradition of making Pasha cakes and decorating eggs.  I love it!  :o)

Read the following description.  When I was scanning this I looked at the picture and said, "Is that really a bug she's holding??"  Then I read it.  Yup it is!  How hopeful it is to see an example of human ingenuity to turn such a tragedy into a true success!  It was a blessing in disguise.  You can't keep some people down!

Beautiful card from Bucharest, Romania.  See description.

I am so in the Holiday mood today and ready to give thanks and praise to our Lord!  (And so ready to color eggs and hide them all over the backyard for the kiddos!)

Smooches,

Town Municipality, Arch, Fountain "Pelicans", Drama Theatre, St. Peter and Paul Cathedral, Hotel "Siauliai"
LT-124894 Great multiview from Lithuania!

Beautiful, colorful card from Lithuania (LT-112680)

The Taj Mahal Mausoleum sent by way of Germany!   (DE-890938)  It's so gorgeous, isn't it?  It's no wonder people flock there from everywhere in the world to experience its beauty!
Here's what Wikipedia says about it...
The Taj Mahal "crown of buildings"; also "the Taj" is a mausoleum located in Agra, India.  It was built by Mughal emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his third wife, Mumtaz Mahal. It is widely considered as one of the most beautiful buildings in the world and stands as a symbol of eternal love.  In 1983, the Taj Mahal became a UNESCO World Heritage Site. While the white domed marble mausoleum is the most familiar component of the Taj Mahal, it is actually an integrated complex of structures. The construction began around 1632 and was completed around 1653, employing thousands of artisans and craftsmen.

Next are 2 private swaps from Hamburg, Germany - thank you Silke!
Hamburg Rathaus is a very grand old building - I love it!  Wikipedia says:
The Hamburg Rathaus is the Rathaus—the city hall or town hall—of Hamburg, Germany, located in the Altstadt quarter in the city centre, near the lake Binnenalster and the central station. Constructed from 1886 to 1897, the city hall still houses its original governmental functions with the office of the First Mayor of Hamburg and the meeting rooms for Hamburg's parliament and senate (the city's executive).

Here is a cool multiview of Hamburg featuring the Reeperbahn which is party central in Germany, maybe the German version of Las Vegas!  The harbor is there as well as another beautiful view of the Rathaus.

Have fun all!
