What a week so far!  I'm exhausted.  My oldest daughter had surgery on Monday and she's doing great.  A lot of healing to go though.  Hopefully she'll be fine by the time she goes back to college next month.

I received 2 cards today...

FI-1145772 from Finland... very unusual photo of shells, I think.  :o)  I like it!

UA-123101 from the Ukraine, Alice and the Caterpillar.  I love Alice In Wonderland!  It's one of my favorite postcard subjects.  I like this one a lot - I've never seen the Caterpillar depicted as a female before.  That's very interesting!  Great stamps too!

CN-407961 (China)  Yao's cross-stitched jacket and skirt for woman.  Awesome card and stamps!

BY-208728  Pretty extra-large card from Belarus!

NL-713095 (Netherlands)  Another beautiful Mama-Bear maybe?

Private swap from the Netherlands... peaceful beach...

BR-149617 (Brazil)  "For each corrupt person there are more than 8,000 people donating blood."  By the stamp it says, "There are reasons to believe that the good ones are the majority."  Wonderful words of hope and faith!  I love it!

My 50th Entry!!

Wow, 50 posts already in this blog!  I've been absolutely faithful in posting every single postcard too.  How many cards have I received so far since I began this journal?  I don't know, I'm too lazy to check.  My guess is a zillion!  LOL!  :o)

Here are the cards received Saturday, July 16th and today, July 18, 2011.  I worked the weekend - 13 hrs on Saturday and a measly 8 hours yesterday - so no time or ambition for doing my postcards.  Mama's got a full-time job, did you know?

The first 5 cards are direct swaps...

Flying Totoro sent from my friend in Michigan that I met at the Postcrossing Michigan Meetup...

Excited to get this awesome Beatles card!  This was the second-to-last appearance the Beatles did as The Cavern's house band.  Their album "Please Please Me" had just come out and they were headed towards the top!

This one's from one of my oldest penpals from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania... thanks for the cute kitty, Lisa!

Two more kitties, these from Russia and not so domesticated...

US-1213176... cool Pennsylvania state card...

US-1210521 from Utah... very cool historical card...

TW-331105... wonderful card from Taiwan... loved the photograph and loved the chatty Postcrosser too!  I LOVE it when people write a lot, but I certainly understand if they don't too.  Sometimes I can't think of a thing to write, can you even imagine that??  Haha!

Cards Received July 9-11, 2011

I received 4 cards on Saturday, July 9th and am late in posting them since that is the day we had our big birthday bash for my youngest daughters.  Pretty busy weekend.  Party went really well, had about 40 people over and it was fun.  The girls made out like thieves in the gift department and had a blast!

Pretty cool card from the Scotland Highlands... the sender said this really does happen, by the way!  Awesome!

Private swap of Reno, Nevada...

Turku, Abo, Finland (FI-1135382)... really beautiful place!

Hamburg, Germany (DE-939792)... the 2nd card I've received from this particular Postcrosser... very curious indeed!

Received these next 2 cards today, July 11, 2011...

Zagreb, Croatia (HR-22928)... beautiful card!  It was a bit soggy from the heavy thunderstorm we received this afternoon but it still looks pretty.

US-1194835... I had a lot of fun reading about this at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kensington_Runestone
Is it a fake or is it for real?  Very interesting!

Have fun!

Visiting Fryslan, Netherlands Today!

Thank Heaven for Postcrossing!  I would never be able to travel the world so cheaply otherwise!  It's so very rewarding to me.  I'm forever addicted to trading postcards and making friends with the world.

Today I'm seeing Fryslan or Friesland, Netherlands for the first time!  Striking me the most are the gorgeous Friesian horses which are black as night.  Wikipedia says Frieslanders are known for their exceptional height as well.  Interesting fact.  I wonder what the average height is?  :o)  It looks like a lovely place to visit.

Also I love those multiview postcards with the many little squares on them!  They are very quaint and I feel like I'm getting 35 mini postcards.  Many Postcrossers do not like the multiview cards but I absolutely love them.  I blow them up big on the computer and can see them just fine.

Have fun!
