The Wall

I made a postcard wall in my office, with much help from my daughter and hubby while listening to a podcast called "Spooked" (scary stories).  I'm not sure how many cards are up there, didn't count them, but the stack was about a foot high.  These are just some of my favorites.  I have a crap ton more stored in boxes.

Do something creative during the self-isolation period.
Open your mind, do a thing or two.
Don't get sick.  Don't be afraid.
Unless you're listening to the "Spooked" podcast.

Quarantined Postcards

I finally received cards in the mail today!  It has been over a week.  I believe the coronavirus pandemic is affecting the postal service around the world.  I do not think it is affecting the senders and receivers though - we are all trapped in our homes with nothing to do but write cards!  So let's write, write, write and send, send, send!!

Hopefully this horrible period of worldwide illness will soon pass and we all will be back to our normal busy selves again.  It is very difficult to stay home so much.

I received three cards today so I am happy for that!!

This is a direct swap from Virginia, USA and I love it so much...

Napoleon and Stamps

From the Netherlands today I received the tomb of Napoleon Bonaparte, the French ruler in the beginning of the 19th century.  It's located in the Hotel National des Invalides in Paris, which also holds an army museum and a museum about the French liberation in the WWII.

I also received some miscellaneous stamps to use on my Postcrossing postcards.  I bought them on Ebay for less than their face value, so I actually save money to use interesting stamps!  I love the stamps as much as the postcards.  I love all different ones and so I use all different ones.  They just need to add up to the right amount.  To send a card to the U.S. from the U.S. it costs 35 cents.  To send a card to any other country from the U.S. it costs $1.15.
These stamps will be put to good use!

6 1/2 Postcards

It's March now and the wind is blowing like mad, rain off and on, but warm now.  All the snow has melted.  I received two cards today in my poor destroyed mailbox.  This beautiful Mama Bear and her ice bear (polar bear) cub from Sandnes, Norway...

Carl from The Walking Dead arrived from Alabama, USA...

Yesterday I received four and a half cards.  These cute birds from Norway...

Lovely card from The Netherlands...

I LOVE this one from Germany!  Cemeteries and monuments is one of my collections but I rarely see any in the mail.

This cute one came from Finland.  I love that Moomin postmark!

And here is my half a card from Hong Kong.  The postal service treated it very poorly indeed.  But she found her way to me somehow - at least the half with my address on it did.  It came in this big envelope...

Luckily, there was enough information on it to find the Postcrossing ID number and register it, with the help of the Postcrossing staff.  It was very expensive to send and very sad that it arrived in such terrible condition.  :(  Upon registering the card I saw that they had uploaded a photo of it before they sent it!  Here is what it looked like...

Love ya!
