December 15-20, 2011 Yay!

Quite a few I had to catch up since my internet had gone out for a few days and then was too slow to upload anything!  Ugh!

Handsome bear from Latvia... LV-52090...

Beautiful bobcat from the Russia... RU-662912...

The Buinitski Memorial Complex, a World War II memorial in Belarus... very beautiful... BY-293756...

Another memorial, this one in Doylestown, Pennsylvania honoring the victims of the 9/11 terrorist attacks...

UA-162514 from the Ukraine... "Happy New Year and Merry Christmas!"

I love this card of the Song Zan Lin Monastery, the largest monastery in the Yun Nan Province of China (CN-477940)  This card is probably the smallest postcard I've ever received and I'm surprised it came to me fully intact!  It is only about 1/3 of the size of this image...

Christmas card from the Netherlands - not a postcard but it's from one of my swap friends and she included a wonderful Postcrossing stamp on the front!  'Tis the Season!  I love Christmas!

DE-1141623... a wonderful double-image lenticular type of postcard of Winnie the Pooh!  I love Pooh Bear!  I couldn't scan a good image of it so I used the image that the sender had taken with her camera.  :o)  My daughter has claimed this card for her own - took me a while to wrestle it from her in order to register it!

NL-925750... Vlieland Beach on one of the isles in the north part of the Netherlands.  I love it and love the stamps too!

TTFN!

Received December 11-12, 2011 Ryman and Atget

Private swap from Seattle, Washington yesterday... "Versailes" by Eugene Atget (1904).  It's a photo of a photo of a sculpture!  Printing-out paper, gold toned at the Cleveland Museum of Art...

The next two cards I received today from Nashville, Tennessee in private swap.  First, the legendary Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, Tennessee.  A recent $8 million restoration has returned the Ryman back to its original beauty.  Built in the mid 1800s, it is now a Music city showplace...

Here are two friends and legends of country music and the Ryman... Minnie Pearl and Roy Acuff on stage at the Grand Ole Opry which was held at the Ryman until the 70s.  While Roy Acuff is a famous country singer, Minnie Pearl is just a famous country character.  I read about her and she had a fascinating life and career.  Everyone who knew her and of her loved her.  I know I did!  We watched her every week on the TV show 'Hee-Haw'!

Have fun!

Received December 8-9, 2011 New Postcrossing Stamp!

I received 3 yesterday and 2 today...

Hand-made Christmas postcard which made it through the mail all the way from the Netherlands outside of an envelope without being destroyed!  That whole ribbon deal is raised and cool looking.  Amazing!  Merry Christmas!  (NL-905016)  Another Postcrossing stamp!!

UA-161740 from the Ukraine... Lower Ramparts and Freedom Boulevard...

TW-411186... From Taiwan, original art by the sender, Yu-hsuan Huang!  She's an illustrator.  I LOVE this card!!  Super duper cute Bears and Racoon!  :o)

I received this one today in an envelope with a real Christmas card from Austin, Texas.  (US-1418825)

NL-901743... cool montage of Holland...such pretty views!  Nice stamp too.  There was a time when the stamps from the Netherlands were so dull and boring.  Just the same one all the time of a flower I think.  Now they have awesome stamps!  The Postcrossing set and now this one... I can't read Dutch but I'm pretty sure it's a 'Think Green' type of stamp.  :o)

Received December 2, 2011 New Month, 4 New Cards!

CN--470924 from China is my only Postcrossing official card today... It's a beautiful view of the old town of Li Jiang in the Yu Nan Province featuring the girls named "Golden Flower" in their local costume...

Private swap from Banff National Park in the province of Alberta, Canada - sent by way of New Hampshire. This is Canada's 1st National Park, established in 1885 and is a World Heritage Site.  This painting is called "Cascade Dawn" by local artist Peter Ivens commissioned by Banff Park Lodge.  Beautiful place... I especially love the 'Family Planning' old U.S. stamp!  Is the sender trying to tell me something??  Haha!  I promise - no more babies here unless they are GRAND babies!

From my swap pal in the U.K.  She continues to make me jealous with her travels.  Check out this awesome card of the Eiffel Tower from the Notre Dame gargoyles' point of view... LOVE it!

This isn't really a swap... I ordered postcards from this photographer/artist/filmmaker featuring these AMAZING "Art" cars!

Here is an example of a card... very cool... they are works of art and actual registered cars that can be driven around!  I recommend buying products from the website above.  The cards are excellent quality and price!

Take care!
